How to link your Outlook signature to LinkedIn

Whether you are wanting to expand your team or further your career, expanding your LinkedIn network with other professionals and business owners will only benefit you. Spreading the word about your LinkedIn profile as much as possible is one way to get more people to connect with you. If you put a link to your LinkedIn profile in the signature block of your Microsoft Outlook emails, people will be more likely to check out your profile and add you to their LinkedIn networks. You can add a LinkedIn link to an Outlook email by copying the URL for your public LinkedIn profile and changing the settings for the signature in Outlook.

How to link your Outlook signature to LinkedIn

Step 1

Log in to your LinkedIn account.

Step 2

Choose the “Profile” option from the main LinkedIn menu.

Step 3

Visit the “Public Profile” tab on your LinkedIn page. Select the public profile URL address and copy it.

Step 4

Launch Microsoft Outlook. Open up a new email.

Step 5

Click the “Message” tab in the menu ribbon of the email message. In the “Include” group, click the “Signature” button.

Step 6

If you want to make a new signature, click the “New” button. In the “New Signature” field, type a name for the signature, and then click “OK.” If you already have a signature you want to use, you can skip this step.

Step 7

In the Edit Signature box, type your signature information, such as your name, job title, and contact information.

Step 8

Click the button that says “Add Hyperlink.” Paste the LinkedIn public profile URL into the “Address” field and the link text into the “Text to Display” field. Press the “OK” button.

Step 9

From the “Choose Default Signature” drop-down menu, choose the email account to which you want to add the signature. Choose the name of the saved signature from the drop-down menus for “New Messages” and “Replies/Forwards” to include it in all emails you send.

Step 10

Click “OK” to save the changes and make them happen. All outgoing emails from Outlook will now have a link to LinkedIn in the signature.
